Hawaiian Culture: The rich history and traditions of the Hawaiian Islands are experienced through art, dance, music, language, and story-telling. One of the most popular events of the year, the annual Lei Day celebration, includes students performing and singing Hawaiian dances and songs for a large audience of parents, grandparents and special guests. Mark your calendar for the 2016 Lei Day Celebration: Friday, May 20!
Students also learn about traditional Hawaiian culture and arts including the traditions and history of hula, lei making, celestial navigation, canoe making, the importance of food and medicines, fishing and net making, and more. Living History Day is another time when the Hawaiian culture is explored.
