MIDDLE SCHOOL MATH & SCIENCE TEACHER – FULL TIME

Carden Academy of Maui is an independent private school in Pukalani, Maui, serving Pre-Kindergarten through 8th grade students. We seek a full-time middle school math and physical science teacher for the 2024 – 25 school year. Responsibilities include teaching one section of math to 6th, 7th, and 8th grade, one section of physical science to 8th grade, and serving as an advisor to 8th grade. An ideal teacher will have a passion for working with middle schoolers.

Qualifications: 
A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mathematics preferred or transferable experience
A minimum of 3-5 years of teaching experience middle/high school preferred

Additional Teacher Responsibilities:
Teach all levels of middle school math, including Algebra 1.
Serve as a middle school advisor to a group of students.
A background in teaching mathematics and science.
Believes all students can and should enjoy a hands-on college-preparatory mathematics and science curriculum that includes project-based instruction.
Able to use a variety of teaching methods, including interactive, online textbooks, and differentiated instruction when needed.
Communicate effectively, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Using the Student Information System, maintain an accurate and organized record of student grades and progress.
Provide students with timely feedback and keep parents informed of student’s academic and social/emotional progress via email and in-person.
Participate in divisional and all school faculty and staff meetings, training, and PD.
Able to create a positive classroom community and build relationships with students, faculty, staff, and families.
Has excitement, joy, and passion for teaching middle schoolers.
Willing to sponsor an after-school activity.
Possess competency with basic use of technology devices (such as MacBooks, iPads, smart TV, etc.), as well as information and communication technologies (such as Microsoft Office 365, Google Workspace, video conferencing and VOIP platforms, student information systems, learning management systems, testing applications, etc.).

HAWAIIANA/HAWAIIAN STUDIES TEACHER – PART TIME

Carden Academy of Maui, an independent private school catering to Pre-Kindergarten through 8th-grade students in Pukalani, Maui, is in search of a Part-time Hawaiiana Teacher for the 2023-24 school year, beginning in January 2024.

The primary responsibilities for this role involve teaching a weekly class to students ranging from Pre-K to 8th grade. The objective is to develop and implement a curriculum that exhibits a seamless progression from grade to grade, with a strong emphasis on Hawaiian knowledge and culture through hands-on learning experiences. A Hō’ike event is scheduled for May, providing students with the opportunity to showcase their acquired knowledge to the community.
The ideal candidate will possess a genuine passion for Hawaiian culture, encompassing language, history, arts, literature, and/or science, and will draw upon their enthusiasm and experiences in these areas.
