The goal of the athletics program is to provide a healthy, positive, safe,
and enjoyable sports experience for all involved.

Physical Education is an opportunity to use the standards of behavior outlined in the classroom.  The emphasis is on fair play and mastery of fundamental sports skills. The students learn independence, leadership, responsibility, and respect for the rights and property of others. They learn that physical fitness is a way of life, not merely a leisure activity.

Carden Academy of Maui offers a comprehensive physical education and athletics program emphasizing personal achievement, teamwork, and sportsmanship.   Students learn the rules and strategies of sports and games. They also learn about the importance of physical activity to support a healthy lifestyle.
K-2 PE
PE is an opportunity for younger students to start learning how their body works. During class students will work on balance, various modes of locomotion, throwing, catching, and kicking skills. PE is also a great place to work on character development, through playing, students work on taking turns and helping classmates accomplish a common goal.
3-5 PE
Students explore a variety of team sports, like volleyball, ultimate frisbee, kickball, and basketball. Beginning in Grade 3 students participate in fit testing to allow them to track their progress and to accomplish personal goals. PE is also an opportunity for students to build character by displaying good sportsmanship during games.
6-8 PE
Middle School Students continue to develop the foundations of movement and character development to prepare them for high school and lifetime fitness.
Students are given opportunities and the space to learn how to navigate the different challenges and experience the rewards, that come from being a contributing member of a team.
Traditional and non-traditional sports and activities are used to develop their fitness and knowledge. We aim to have students leave class each day more confident and competent in themselves and their abilities.

After-School Sports
The after-school sports and activities are an extension of the educational opportunities at Carden Academy. All students are encouraged to experiment regardless of prior experience. The programs emphasize commitment to oneself and to their teammates, along with sportsmanship.

Sports and activities have included: cross-country running, volleyball, basketball, pickleball, track and field, kickball, tennis, flag football, disc golf, and mountain biking.
